Den Sorte Skole Lektion # 3

The other day i went by the studio of Den Sorte Skole. I went with two goals in mind, one to get a cup coffee and having a chat with my friends. The other goal was, that i wanted to do a video blog post, with some sounds bit’s off the music they are making for their new album. The last idea was turned down faster than you can count to one, they where like what you hear today, stay’s in the studio. So i ended up taking a couple of photos and listening to a couple of their new tracks. They also played all the original songs where they got the samples from and i was pretty damn chocked to see how much work they put into making one song. All songs are sample based, drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, vocals and so on. All these samples are from songs that you most likely never heard off and a lot of the samples have some sort of a story connected to them. From what i heard, i can only say that, Den Sorte Skole are going all in making thier 3rd album and I’m really looking forward to get my hands on this album…

MALK DE KOIJN

Two turntables and some microphones… That’s all you need to rock the house. I was thinking to write about the show that Malk fired up under this past weekend, but instead I took some frame grabs from the cams of Theis Mortensen, Magnus Krieberg, Morten Westh and Simon Weyhe and i think they say it all, TAP 1 was full of love…

Malk de Koijn – Toback to the Fromtime

It’s been one crazy ride the last 8 month’s and all i can say, is that i feel like Michael J Fox in the movie Toback to the fromtime… Which is the name for Malk De Koijn’s new album, when i first heard this name i was like how in the hell did they come up with this name. And the story behind it, is actually pretty damn funny. It was two kids talking to each other and one of them told his friend, i went to the movies yesterday with my dad and saw Toback to the fromtime…

But enough of the funny guy. We spend a couple of day´s filming the new Malk de koijn video…

It was filmed with a 5D, 7D and a sony fs100.

All photo’s by Theis Mortensen.

super 8mm

It´s been a couple of years since i have played around with my super 8mm camera. I guess when i got my Canon 5D mark ll, i went all in with both feet´s, i just wanted to learn as much as possible working with this new system. But after getting my kessler dolly system, i have been thinking about how cool it would be to do timelapse with my super 8mm camera and the kessler dolly. But i never really did anything about it, until now…
I´m doing a project for Levi´s, more info about this in the near future. So to keep a long story short, i´m doing four small docu styled movies in four different city´s in Europe. Levi´s wanted a different look, than what you can get out of all these new large sensor camera´s and the budget was´t big enough to go all in on 16 mm. so we decided to dust of my old super 8mm camera and shoot more or less half of the movies on 8mm film and the rest on a canon 5D mark ll. I don´t know what it is, but there is something about shooting on film, the sound it makes when you are filming,  you think an extra time before hitting record, cause you know that you only have a certain amount of minutes to shoot depending on how many films you bougth and then the excitement you have when you are waiting for your film to get developed, cause you don´t really know how good the footy is before you get the film back from development.
I´m using andec films in Berlin to developed my films and i was chocked to find out that they could could telecine in full Hd, 16/9 and delivered it on a hard disk in apple prores 422. My films should be arriving on Monday. i´m really really excited by this…

Thank You For Not Driving

More than a little while ago i did this one…

The City of Copenhagen is continuously developing an even better cohesive public transport net that connects both the S-train, bus and Metro – the aim is to lower the CO2-levels by getting more people to stop wasting their time in car jams and use communal transport instead!

José González concert – tonight 23:40 on DR K

So much stuff is going down at the moment so will keep this one super short. I recently filmed and edited a concert with José González and it´s going to be televised the old fashion way tonight at DR K…

Swedish José González, released in 2003 his first EP ‘Crosses’, which was quickly followed by the debut album ‘Veneer’ and created a huge international popularity and respect for the young new talent.

Hype around José González exploded when his cover version of The Knife ‘Heartbeats’ was used in the U.S. hitserie The OC and at Sony’s advertising with 250,000 bouncy balls and changed González’s status from promising upcoming name to world star.

Now the young Swede then partnered with the 20-man strong orchestra The Gothenburg String Theory, and delivered on Gothenburg Kulturkalas 2010 a true triumph of a show that has evolved into a full European tour in which the particular constellation now pass Concert House.

Filmed on Canon DSLR´s, Kessler crane and a bunch of other stuff.
